| After June 26: What changes, and what doesn’t Drop-in services at 125 Commercial Ave will end on June 26. The location will no longer be a public walk-in service. The space will be repurposed to provide daytime meals and programming for residents of CFOC–Doors of Compassion’s Ajax shelters — a shift from community drop-in to direct shelter-support programming as part of a broader reinvestment in housing-outcome models. What continues: Emergency shelter — 158 Harwood Ave S, Ajax; 27 Station St, Ajax; 1635 Dundas St E, Whitby Housing Navigation & Stability Program — housing attainment, case management, and housing stability and loss prevention supports By-Name List and Coordinated Access — Community Access Points remain active at all DOC shelter locations Peer Support Program — support will remain across our shelter and housing programs. Next Steps Food Bank — continuing at 158 Harwood Ave S, bi-weekly What’s new: CFOC–Doors of Compassion is launching a supportive housing stream in partnership with Lakeridge Health, providing units accessed through portable housing benefits. This creates a direct, funded pathway from emergency shelter into stable housing, a significant expansion aligned with Durham Region’s investment in the housing continuum. Our shelter model is also evolving. Shelter patrons will have access to expanded on-site programming oriented toward housing outcomes — including housing planning, life skills, wellness, and supports designed to help people move toward stable housing.
